Because I will be having a new air conditioning and heating system put in my house, I wanted to make sure that I had insulation to make the new system as efficient (less costly to operate) as possible. I found American Building Technologies on Angie’s List (they were highly rated). They were very responsive, friendly, and knowledgeable, The crew treated my house very respectfully. I really appreciate their attention to detail. I am very happy with the job ABT did and am looking forward to more comfort and less cost to heat and air condition my home.

Description of work: I had my house completely insulated.

The estimate was on target and we were very pleased with the results of the job. The workers were courteous and were good at their very difficult jobs. The job was completed on time and on budget. The only issue that came up was a situation where one of the workers used our neighbor’;s washing machine and dryer as a platform to connect power in the basement. They created significant damage and an unhappy neighbor for me. Romain, the owner, was completely responsive. He came over immediately, ordered replacement parts at his expense and had them delivered to our neighbor. He was out some money, but his integrity clearly showed. Good outfit to do business with overall.

Romain and ABT gave us firm estimates, kept to them, were always on time (even during two snow storms) were completely professional and very knowledgeable about their work and their products. Because of the age and location of the house, the insulation had to be blown into the exterior walls from the inside which meant cutting 3″ holes every 16″ through wallboard and through wood. The crew was expert, extremely neat (and it’s very hard to be neat around wallboard) and never made a bad cut. They cleaned up after themselves to the point where, in one instance we had old plywood, wallboard, etc., and debris on the jetty outside the house. The crew went down onto the rocks to remove all debris before high tide. Following completion, Romain went over every wall with an infra-red detector to ensure all spaces had been addressed. Within 2 days, during Boston’s 0 degree temperatures, the floors became warm (rather than radiating cold) and the heating system was able to maintain a constant 68 on all floors (in intense cold, we have never been able to maintain constant interior temperature above 63). Finally, this work was eligible for state energy efficiency grants and loans and Romain handled all of it and we received the grant (2,000) and the 7 year no-interest loan (15,000) before the 4 day job was completed and that was no simple task. I would recommend Romain and ABT to anyone with a big, old disaster of a home that always provides unpleasant surprises when “home improvement” is contemplated.

Description of work: We have a huge old (1892) converted summer home surrounded on 3 sides by the Atlantic ocean. 3 floors, full attic, basement, and NO insulation. PLus, the house is so old that joists are not where you would expect, etc. We hired ABT for insulation work; the whole house, including blowing into walls, attic, and firm boards under all floors including basement, and sealing of all vents and air spaces. .
